What a great start to the year!

We started back at training on 6th Jan and wasted no time getting back into things.  All the usual suspects were present plus a few returnees.

It’s good to have Dawn back, after her short break.  Despite not training, Dawn has been relentless distributing our fliers in local mail boxes and local business.  Thanks Dawn. It’s also great to see Bryan back at training after his long stint away.

Early in January we were also joined by Dan and he’s jumped into things with both feet. He has a fair bit of previous experience behind him, albeit a few years ago, and it shows.  It hasn’t taken him long to pick things up again.

Kihon Yon Dosa

The topic for this month was Kihon-Yon-Dosa focussing on sharp, consistent technique.  Check out the guide to Kihon-Yon-Dosa.

Stability in stances is crucial.  A strong, stable stance allows you to deliver strong, effective techniques.  If there are weaknesses or inconsistencies in your stance then you will struggle maintaining consistency elsewhere.

Kihon-Yon-Dosa is a fantastic platform to focus on various stances and identify areas that need work.  The single step eliminates other factors and helps develop the all so important muscle memory.
The plan for this year is to invite Sensei’s and advanced students from other clubs and styles to our dojo for some collaboration and knowledge sharing.
